Arkema finishes second in New York City

Multi50 skipper Lalou Roucayrol has just crossed the finish line of The Transat bakerly off New York at 16:43:20 local time as the second Multi50.

Leading the Multi50 Class for the first half of the race, on 11th May, 1000nm from the finish line, Roucayrol sustained damage to his daggerboard, which meant he could no longer sail directly upwind.

Determined to make it to New York, Roucayrol crossed the finish line five days later after 14 days, seven hours, 13 minutes and 20s seconds at sea – just 1 day, 23 hours 52 minutes and four seconds behind class winner Gilles Lamiré (French Tech Rennes St Malo).

Roucayrol sailed a total distance of 4199nm across the Atlantic ocean at an average speed of 12.23 knots.
