Minimizing carbon footprint

Sustainability

CARBON FOOTPRINT MEASUREMENT

OC Sport Pen Duick is committed to transforming the way a major sailing race is organized over the long term. Limiting the environmental footprint of the event, while giving every visitor the means to enjoy the best possible experience while making it the least greenhouse gas-generating possible.

With this in mind, OC Sport Pen Duick is calculating the event's carbon footprint in order to identify the items that emit the most greenhouse gases (GHGs), define a medium- and long-term reduction trajectory, and draw up an action plan for the future.

WHAT IS A CARBON FOOTPRINT?

Bilan Carbone is a method developed by ADEME (Agence de l'environnement et de la maîtrise de l'énergie) to measure the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of a company, event, product or individual.

This exercise is essential for implementing the most effective GHG emissions reduction actions possible. These emissions are segmented into 3 scopes:

CARBON CONTRIBUTION - PROJECTS WITH HIGH ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL VALUE

In addition to challenging all our practices with a view to minimizing the carbon impact of The Transat CIC, we are launching a carbon contribution plan in Brittany in collaboration with Agoterra. The idea is simple: to support virtuous and regenerative agricultural initiatives that contribute to sequestering CO2e while supporting a sustainable employment dynamic. Regenerative agriculture also offers numerous co-benefits, such as improving water and soil quality, and preserving the surrounding biodiversity.

CARBON CONTRIBUTION, WHAT'S WHAT?

The global carbon neutrality contribution is a mechanism that enables companies to have a positive impact on the environment, communities and carbon neutrality outside the scope of their business, by participating in the development of initiatives that minimize or sequester greenhouse gas emissions.
